“Vets FUR Vets” Program

We are grateful for the sacrifice every service member makes to protect the freedoms that we enjoy.  As beneficiaries of the liberties they defend, we feel it is our duty to do what we can to help mitigate the toll their service takes on them.

Currently the Veteran’s Administration provides up to 100 certified PTSD service dogs to veterans each year, at no cost to the veteran.  However, estimates indicate that as many as 22 veterans commit suicide each day!  Veterans who would benefit from a PTSD-trained service dog and are unable to get one through the VA must purchase one at their own expense.   It can cost upwards of $20,000 to certify a PTSD service dog.

Healing4Heroes™ is a non-profit organization, located in Peachtree City, GA, dedicated to connecting service members who suffer from PTSD, with certified service dogs. Suitable dogs are rescued from local animal shelters, (saving the lives of unwanted shelter dogs) and are trained to be service companions for our veterans. Service dogs are free of charge to the veteran. (H4H relies on donations to cover their expenses.)

To aid H4H in their efforts, Fairview Animal Hospital has committed to free boarding for up to two months, for up to two dogs who have been determined to be suitable for training, until the dog can be matched to a veteran and training begins.

To aid the veteran, Fairview Animal Hospital has pledged to provide free preventive care for up to 5 veteran-owned, certified PTSD-trained service dogs for the life of the pet.  If you qualify and want to be considered for the program, please click here.
