As a veterinary assistant, you’ll support our doctors and hospital team throughout the patient-care process. Your day may include:
- Safely handling and restraining dogs and cats
- Assisting with patient intake and triage
- Obtaining and documenting medical histories
- Collecting and processing laboratory samples
- Assisting with diagnostic imaging and radiographs
- Providing nursing care for hospitalized patients with varying levels of stability
- Administering medications as directed
- Preparing patients for surgery and assisting during procedures
- Supporting anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery
- Communicating treatment plans and recommendations clearly with clients
- Keeping treatment and patient-care areas clean, organized, and ready for the next patient
A successful veterinary assistant is comfortable multitasking, communicating with both clients and coworkers, and stepping in wherever help is needed. You’ll have the opportunity to work with a variety of cases and gain experience across multiple areas of veterinary medicine.
